Providence Presbyterian Church Iftar

On Sunday, March 1, volunteers from the American Turkish Friendship Association (ATFA) hosted their first community iftar at Providence Presbyterian Church, welcoming guests for a warm and meaningful evening of dialogue and fellowship during the month of Ramadan.

The program featured mutual presentations about the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and the Christian season of Lent, offering participants an opportunity to reflect on the spiritual meaning of fasting, prayer, and self-reflection in both traditions. The exchange created a thoughtful space for learning, mutual understanding, and interfaith friendship.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed a welcoming atmosphere filled with engaging conversations and shared reflections about what they learned from one another. A small raffle added joy and excitement to the gathering, encouraging interaction and creating memorable moments for participants.

The evening concluded with a shared iftar meal, where attendees continued conversations over delicious food and strengthened new friendships. The gathering highlighted the power of community engagement and interfaith dialogue in building bridges across faith traditions.

Programs like this interfaith iftar are part of ATFA’s broader Ramadan initiatives that bring together neighbors, faith leaders, and community members throughout Northern Virginia to celebrate the values of compassion, understanding, and community service.
