Northern Virginia Public Safety Appreciation & Recognition Dinner Brings Together First Responders, Community Leaders, and Public Officials During National Police Week


The American Turkish Friendship Association (ATFA) was honored to host the Northern Virginia Public Safety Appreciation & Recognition Dinner during National Police Week, bringing together public safety professionals, elected officials, faith leaders, and community partners from across Northern Virginia and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The evening served as an opportunity to recognize the dedication, sacrifice, and service of the men and women who work every day to protect and serve our communities. The program also highlighted the importance of strengthening relationships between public safety institutions and the communities they serve through dialogue, appreciation, and civic partnership.

ATFA was deeply honored to welcome Virginia Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Stanley Meador as the keynote speaker. Secretary Meador shared remarks on leadership, public service, and the importance of cooperation between government institutions and local communities.

The event also welcomed Senator Dave Marsden, along with representation from the offices of U.S. Senator Mark Warner, Congressman James Walkinshaw, State Senator Saddam Salim, and Congressman Don Beyer.

Public safety agencies and participant groups attending the event included:

  • Virginia State Police

  • Fairfax County Police Department

  • Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department

  • Fairfax City Police Department

  • Fairfax City Fire Department

  • Loudoun County Sheriff's Office

  • Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System

  • Prince William County Police Department

  • Prince William County Fire & Rescue

  • National Capital Region Incident Management Team

The evening brought together police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, sheriff deputies, emergency management professionals, civic leaders, faith leaders, nonprofit representatives, and community members in a spirit of appreciation and partnership.

As a nonprofit organization dedicated to interfaith dialogue, community service, youth engagement, and civic cooperation, ATFA believes that strong communities are built when public institutions and local communities work together with mutual respect and understanding.

The Northern Virginia Public Safety Appreciation & Recognition Dinner reflects ATFA’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, bridge-building, and honoring those who dedicate their lives to public service.
