Syrian Community attended weekly English Club that ATFA Kentucky organized in Louisville. At these Sunday afternoon gatherings the Syrian Community is offering English lessons to their newly arrived refugee population. The sessions are staffed with volunteers from many of Louisville’s communities. Including the Syrians Community, Turks, Catholic churches, the Muslim Student Association to name only a few. There are lessons for all ages and daycare provided for the small children.
They are opportunities for people to socialize, network, and feel welcomed. Volunteers are planning not only lessons but organizing to provide transportation for more English learners. Already we`ve had picnic on a Sunday afternoon. Kids were outside playing together and making friends. What a wonderful opportunity American Turkish Friendship Association has provided in offering a venue for this type of endeavor.
