Turkish language is spoken by over 250 million people in the world. Today Turkish is taught in 115 countries as a second language in many leading high schools and colleges as well as in United States. Moreover, Turkish is one of the critical-need languages under the National Security Language Initiative that highlights Turkish Language as “actively sought by universities, government agencies and the business sector for their skills, experience, and knowledge!” (www.nsliforyouth.org)

The American Turkish Friendship Association (ATFA) and the Mid-Atlantic Federation of Turkic American Associations (MAFTAA) are organizing 5th Annual Turkish Culture and Language Olympiad at W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax, Virginia on May 12, 2013.

Around  1,500 guests are expected at  W.T. Woodson High School to support the students while enjoying Turkish songs, poems and folk dances. This is one of the biggest programs which embrace the people of diverse communities around Turkey’s rich culture and heritage.
